With DIY you can learn to paint a door to make our home new and original. If you are tired of the usual colors and want to change the environment around you, you can go directly from the entrance doors of the various rooms, perhaps coloring each one in a different color. With this guide, you will learn how to paint a door without defects, to get the best results. All you need is a rag, a wedge, a roller for painting, a brush and abrasive paper. Let’s see how to get started.
First, remove the lock and the handle of the door, along with other possible details that could disturb the painting. We clean all the holes and remove the dust, trying to remove even the smallest defects and to obtain a surface as smooth as possible, helping with sandpaper.
At this point, you can decide to work on the vertical door, then leaving it in its place, or you can opt for a horizontal job, detaching the door and placing it on two special trestles, so you can work on the floor. Then, start painting it from the sides, with vertical movements: finish the sides first, then move to the center of the door.
Once a part is finished, wait for it to dry before switching to the other. Once you have given the first pass to both sides, proceed again to paint, for at least three times in total: for the smaller parts or for the finishes, use special brushes, like the smaller ones. Once both sides are dry, you can decide whether or not to apply additional decorations. You will finally have a different house, despite not having purchased anything new!
